BPS CHARTERED COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST, EMDR EUROPE ACCREDITED PRACTITIONER, BABCP ACCREDITED CBT PSYCHOTHERAPIST & SCHEMA THERAPIST WORKING TOWARDS CERTIFICATION
What To Expect
The choice of the type of therapy and the psychologist you’ll see is a very personal and important one in order to be able to talk about personal thoughts and problems.
We will initially meet for a psychological assessment, in which we discuss how your problems developed, how they are maintained and we will together develop a treatment plan for your difficulties if you decide to continue with sessions. The most important aspect that impact change is the therapeutic relationship, therefore it is paramount that you feel you can trust your psychologist and that they can help you to elicit change. This initial meeting is therefore also an opportunity for you to check if you can work with me and for me to evaluate whether I have the right area of expertise.
Our working relationship will last as long as you feel you need to or until you have reached the goals you set when you started therapy. I will never put you under pressure to stop or continue as we will decide this together. As guidance, I usually meet with clients between six and 20 sessions depending on the presenting problems for short and medium-term work. I also offer a more longer-term explorative therapy.
